Onboarding Flow

UXonboardingflownew useractivation

A guided sequence of steps that helps new users understand and set up a product.

When to use

  • Products with a learning curve or required setup (e.g. API keys, profile creation)
  • When activation rate is low and users churn before reaching the 'aha moment'
  • Keep it minimal — only ask for what's truly necessary to deliver value

Examples

  • Linear's project setup wizard on first sign-in
  • Notion's template picker for new workspaces
